NEW! Historic Depot to Become the Official Museum Building
Great Western Depot to become Museum buildingThe museum has a great opportunity to save the historic Great Western Depot from Loveland, built in 1901. With the help of many great volunteers and local businesses, this building will be carefully taken apart, transported to Granby, and rebuilt as the official Moffat Road Railroad Museum. The Depot will feature a visitor center, gift shop, and small display area. With this new focus, the museum can continue to enhance the Interpretive Center with new and existing projects.

Model Railroad Christmas Display
Every year, the Grand County Model Railroad Club creates a model railroad display for the Christmas holiday season, which is open to public viewing at the modular building next to the Soccer Dome in Granby in December. See our Christmas Display & Schedule page for the viewing schedule and photo gallery of some of the scenes on the model railroad.

Work Days Every Saturday at the Interpretive Center
The Moffat Road Railroad Museum is working on the equipment restoration for the Interpretive Center. If anyone wants to work on any of the projects, they should contact Dave Naples 970-281-9094.

restoration work on 1923 caboose
We have started restoring the 1923 caboose with exterior framing and new siding, all made possible with a grant from Union Pacific.

The Interpretive Center is Growing!
The Moffat Road Railroad Museum now has three pieces of railroad equipment located at the Railroad Interpretive Park next to the Kaibab Park ball fields in Granby, Colorado, with a third piece scheduled for delivery. The Moffat Road Railroad Museum Interpretive Center includes a 1905 Passenger Car, which was transported from Rhode Island. The 1915 era railroad hand-cart shed from Hot Sulphur Springs was saved from demolition to become part of the Interpretive Center. There is also a 1923 all wood, red UP caboose from Nebraska, which was the first piece of railroad equipment for the museum.

First Development Project at Museum Site
As the first development at the museum site, electrical lines have been run on the property. Although a lot of work was done by Dave Naples and the Model Railroad Club, it still cost around $5,300 to run the electrical lines. To find out more about the progress, visit our Museum Building Progress section. If you would like to help cover the cost, donate online.

Model Railroad Shows
We will be attending shows throughout the year. If you are interested in helping at upcoming shows, please contact Dave Naples at 970.887.9478 or email info@moffatroadrailroadmuseum.org. Visit the Model Railroad Shows page for more information on events we attend and to see photos from the events.

Sponsor the "Moffat Road" Model Railroad
We are offering a fun way to raise money by having sponsorship opportunities on various features of the model railroad depicting the "Moffat Road" which will be displayed on the second floor of the museum. From train cars and tunnels, to lakes and bridges, to depots and town buildings, there are various different ways to advertise as a sponsor. See our Model Railroad Sponsor Choices for more details.

Grand County Model Railroad Club & Newsletters
