Our New Family Train Ride Will Be in Operation Soon!
Years in the making, our custom-built Family Train Ride is expected to be operational August 1, 2026! We’ve completed the track (which winds around the museum’s yard), built a beautiful deck and loading platform, and we’re putting the final touches on the locomotive, cars, and crossing gates to ensure a fun and safe experience for riders of all ages.
Once complete, the train will feature a locomotive, four passenger cars, and a caboose. One of the cars will be fully accessible, with ramps at the platform to ensure everyone can join the ride.
We will have the train and track inspected on July 23, before we can safely offer rides to our guests.
Stay tuned and help us make history move—one ride at a time!

Ballast base laid followed by laying the railroad ties for the 2,300 linear foot track. Careful attention was paid to the radius of the track curves.

Between staff, volunteers, and a hard-working crew that we hired, the track was laid in place on the museum’s property. It’s not easy work. Thank you to all who helped!
