Our New Family Train Ride Will Be in Operation Summer/Fall of 2026
Years in the making, our custom-built family train ride is progressing! We’ve completed the track, which winds around the museum’s yard, and we’re putting the final touches on the locomotive and cars to ensure a fun and safe experience for riders of all ages.
This summer and fall, we’re building our museum’s plaza that will also serve as the train’s boarding platform, as we continue fundraising to bring this exciting project to life. Then, we will have the train and track inspected before we can safely offer rides to our guests.
Once complete, the train will feature a locomotive, four passenger cars, and a caboose. One of the cars will be fully accessible, with ramps at the platform to ensure everyone can join the ride.
Stay tuned and help us make history move—one ride at a time!

Ballast base laid followed by laying the railroad ties for the 2,300 linear foot track. Careful attention was paid to the radius of the track curves.

Between staff, volunteers, and a hard-working crew that we hired, the track was laid in place on the museum’s property. It’s not easy work. Thank you to all who helped!
