Now Boarding: Our New Family Train Ride!
Years in the making, our custom-built Family Train Ride welcomed its first passengers on August 15, 2026!
The track winds around the museum grounds, departing from the 1902 Depot’s beautiful new deck and loading platform. From the bell on the locomotive to the functional crossing gates, every detail has been carefully completed to create an enjoyable and safe experience for riders of all ages.
Designed for both children and adults, the train includes four passenger cars and a covered caboose. One car is fully accessible, and ramps at the loading platform help ensure everyone can join the fun.
Ride tickets are $4 per person, per ride, with paid museum admission, and may be purchased inside the Visitor Center.

Our Progress to Bring the Train to Life

Ballast base laid followed by laying the railroad ties for the 2,300 linear foot track. Careful attention was paid to the radius of the track curves.
Between staff, volunteers, and a hard-working crew that we hired, the track was laid in place on the museum’s property. It’s not easy work. Thank you to all who helped!
